STEP 2:

STEP 1:

  • Create your account by following this link.

Under “My Pieces” in your dashboard options, select “New Piece”.

Please be as detailed as possible in your description, being sure to include any signatures or makers marks that would help us distinguish your piece.

Attach a photo that clearly displays your piece, ensure that it is the only piece in the photo (unless you are firing multiple identical/similar pieces).

Please note the type of glaze you are using, especially if you are layering glazes (E.g. - #7 Oribe and #1 Persian Blue) .

Select if it is a glaze fire, a bisque 06 or 04 fire.

Please note, once you have submitted your piece, you are not able to make edits.

  • We typically run at minimum one bisque and one glaze fire every week. Depending on volume of pieces submitted, and our current class load, wait times will vary, averaging at 1-2 weeks.

If you have submitted a very large piece, pieces for a cone 04 bisque fire, or have booked for a full kiln load, your wait time may exceed the standard.

We will do our best to accommodate people looking to have pieces complete by a certain date, but we will not make promises!

  • The firings that we run the most often are a cone 06 bisque fire and a cone 6 glaze fire. We occasionally run 04 bisque fires as well.

Please note, if you submit your pieces for an 04 bisque fire, they may take longer than normal, as we run them less often.

Other firing temperatures can be negotiated ONLY for FULL KILN LOAD bookings.

  • After 30 days, if you have not contacted us letting us know that you are unable to pick up your pieces within the allotted window, Saskatoon Makerspace keeps your pieces and uses them for fundraiser events.

  • Unfortunately, pieces breaking is sometimes part of the ceramics experience. Though our staff does their absolute best to ensure all pieces survive the process, we are unable to make you any guarantees. You will not be refunded or compensated in the event that your piece becomes damaged in any way during the firing process.

  • This will be dealt with on a case by case basis. Our shelves have kiln wash, and we do use cookies under pieces that use runny glazes. Do your best to indicate to us while submitting your pieces if your glaze tends to run, or if you are unsure, so we are able to take the correct precautions.

Depending on the severity, we reserve the right to charge the artist for the damages.

  • Firing Agreement

This agreement is made between Saskatoon Makerspace and yourself for the use of the Studio’s kiln firing services.

Unforeseen technical or mechanical failures of the kiln or equipment.
